One of the objectives of Ghana Mission 2022 is to run a series of 3-day simulation training aimed achieving the following: the management of postpartum haemorrhage, pre-eclampsia and eclampsia, maternal sepsis, obstructed labour, fetal surveillance in labouring women and human factors, teamwork and communication.
Another objective of Ghana Mission 2022 is to visit the Methodist Health Training Institute (MHTI) at Afosu Campus in the Eastern Region. The TRIO Bridge Foundation in partnership with the Ghana Nurses Association, UK, are undertaking a capacity building program which involves training, education, coaching and mentoring of tutors and students.
These clinical situations we know contribute to about 70% of maternal deaths in Ghana and we believe that with the wealth of local knowledge available, addition of such multi-professional sustainable training will reduce maternal mortality.
The Foundation has a board of trustees and members who trained in Ghana in various disciplines including healthcare, ICT, project management and international development, but pursued further education and training in the United Kingdom. Typically, since 2018, the Foundation sends a team on “Mission to Ghana”.
